Had it been more focused on Jiiva’s yawning issue or his conflict with Sibiraj, Pokkiri Raja would have been a real Raja. In that case the purpose of the film gets diluted. Is it a medical condition or a power? That is something the director has left the audience to guess. Similarly the reason for Jiiva’s yawning condition was not established properly. The battle between Jiiva and Sibiraj could have been a little more intense. When you expect a serious battle between the lead and the antagonist, you are offered with a comedy sequence. Pokkiri Raja manages to mildly engage you throughout because of its unpredictable narrative pattern. Searching for logic here might waste your time.

The lone purpose of making this film is to engross the audience with no holds barred entertainment. It might not manage to break the theatre into laughter but the comedy portion is tolerable, thanks to Yogi Babu who plays Jiiva’s ally. Hansika travels throughout the film and she has a solid role to play. One feels more of his powerful negative shades and less of humor could have worked better.
